Ritual under the sun: How to choose the ideal cigar for summer days?

Summer brings a change of pace. The days are longer, the evenings warmer, and a coffee by the sea or a glass of premium rum on the terrace require a special addition.

But did you know that high temperatures and humidity significantly affect your cigar-enjoying ritual? At Havana Shop, with over 30 years of tradition, we know that summer calls for a “lighter” approach.

While winter evenings are reserved for heavy, earthy and intense profiles, the summer months are ideal for cigars that don't overload the palate.

Why is format important?

In the summer we often choose shorter formats like Short Robusta or Corona.

The reason is simple – high temperatures can make smoking a long cigar tiring.

Shorter formats allow intense, but shorter enjoyment that fits perfectly into a break between jumping into the sea or before dinner.

Our favorites for summer 2026.

In our expertly selected catalog for this summer, we highlight profiles that bring notes of citrus, cedar, and light spices:

  1. Cigars with light wrappers (Connecticut Shade): Ideal for morning coffee or early afternoon. Their creamy texture and mild flavor perfectly accompany the freshness of summer.

How to preserve freshness?

Summer heat is the biggest enemy of your cigars. Proper storage in a humidor at a stable temperature and humidity (about 65-70%) is essential for the cigar to retain its oils and elasticity. If you travel, don't forget the travel humidors - your cigar deserves first class, just like you. (link to travel humidors that we will take pictures of on Monday!)
