Maison Keber: Exclusive men's suits and showroom in Zagreb by appointment only

I'm rarely surprised, but newly opened Maison Keber (read: Maison Keber) achieved this in Zagreb. Showroom u Gundulićeva 23 does not entice with discounts, trends or marketing tricks, but here you can feel the soul of the space and the man behind it. Mijo Šarkanj, the founder and initiator of the brand, immediately brings character and cheerfulness to every encounter. His presence makes the space relaxed and the conversation natural, as if you had come to visit an old friend, and not to showroom luxury brand.

Mijo is not your typical fashion entrepreneur. A journalist with a degree in IT, fascinated by male identity and style, he has created a place that literally combines elegance, craftsmanship and attention to detail, all based on the principle “by appointment only”. Currently Maison Keber offers ready-to-wear suits in limited editions, carefully selected to suit different body types and lifestyles. But the plan is to introduce it made-to-measure option, which will give the brand additional exclusivity, and the customer experience a new dimension of personalization.

His studio is like a private gentlemen's club where one talks, tastes a glass of good drink and carefully chooses an outfit, without haste or compromise. His favorite watch is Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, and when he leaves the house, he never forgets the good vibes and spritz perfume, a small sign of attention to oneself and one's surroundings. As he himself says:

“A suit is the architecture of the body. It gives structure, confidence and clarity. In a world that has become casual to the point of negligence, a suit is an act of respect for oneself and others.” – Mijo Šarkanj

In the rest of the article, we will take a look at his clothing philosophy, the materials he chooses, the cuts he likes, and his choice of accessories, perfumes and watches.

To begin with, can you briefly introduce yourself?

Mijo Šarkanj: I am Mijo, the founder of the brand Maison Keber. I am a journalist by profession, and I have been professionally involved in the IT industry for years. However, my true fascination has always been style, identity, and the way a man communicates with the world through clothing. Maison Keber It was created from the desire for elegance to regain depth, character and story.

How does a journalist graduate from the IT industry end up in the world of suits?

Mijo Šarkanj: Actually, very naturally. Journalism taught me to listen to people and understand context. IT taught me precision and structure, and in the background there was always an interest in aesthetics and elegance.

“The world of suits demands exactly that: understanding of the person and discipline in execution.” – Mijo Šarkanj

How did Maison Keber come about?

Mijo Sarkanj: Maison Keber It was born from a combination of quiet frustration and a love for classic clothing. I noticed that the market offered either soulless fast fashion or luxury without a personal touch. I wanted to create a brand that combines aesthetics, local production, and an intimate shopping experience.

Maison Keber works on the principle by appointment only (appointment reservations). Mijo wants to give each client his full attention, because choosing a suit, as he says, is not and should not be an impulsive purchase. True style, Mijo believes, cannot be rushed, and reservations allow for peace and complete dedication to the client.

What inspired you to open a studio in Zagreb?

Mijo Šarkanj: I wanted to create a space that would be the opposite of the busy shops. I also wanted to give the space the spirit of a private club, a place where you can chat, enjoy a glass of good wine, and choose an outfit without pressure. Showroom is conceived as a place for meeting, conversation and returning to a slower pace.

Why do you produce suits locally in Croatia and in small batches? How important is that to you?

“It’s extremely important to me. Local production means quality control, ethics and transparency. Small batches mean exclusivity and responsibility. I don’t want overproduction. I want every piece to have weight and meaning.” – Mijo Šarkanj

Maison Keber offers classic two-piece and three-piece suits with structured constructions, with an emphasis on clean lines and a natural silhouette. The cuts combine Italian softness with British discipline, and the materials are chosen to last and age beautifully. For year-round suits, medium weight wool from 240 to 280 grams, while fabrics are reserved for the colder months from 300 grams and more, all of natural origin and breathable.

For the summer season, Mijo plans to introduce linen suits, but thoughtfully, often in blends that retain structure and elegance, with character without appearing casual.

Average price of a suit in Maison Keberu is about 1,290 EUR, which reflects carefully selected materials, cuts and limited production runs.

Where do the fabrics come from and what is most important to you when choosing them?

Mijo Šarkanj: The fabrics come from Italy. The most important things to me are the composition, the drape of the fabric, its durability, and the way it reacts to light. The fabric must have character, not just a pretty color.

When the client comes in Maison Keber, the meeting begins with a conversation. Mijo wants to understand the lifestyle, habits and occasions for which the suit is needed, before trying on models and consulting on cut and fabric. Everything takes place in a calm and relaxed atmosphere, without pressure, which reflects his approach that dressing is not an impulse purchase.

Besides the suit, Maison Keber also offers ready-made shirts with the option of personalizing initials. Each one is made with attention to detail that is appreciated by connoisseurs like mother-of-pearl buttons, rolled sleeve (throw away sleeve), a perfectly profiled collar and a construction that holds its shape while wearing. The shirts are designed to breathe with the suit and exude quality, not trend.

Your studio resembles a private English gentlemen's club. Can we expect exclusive events or collaborations?

Mijo Šarkanj: Yes, that's exactly how I envision the space. The atelier is not just a place to shop, but an intimate stage for people who appreciate style, culture and conversation. I plan exclusive presentations, private tastings, small collaborations with carefully selected partners and events where attendees will be able to enjoy peace, conversation and an atmosphere that you won't find anywhere else. I want every visit to be an experience — discreet, pleasant, and somewhat ceremonial.

What is your favorite brand of sunglasses?

Mijo Šarkanj: I prefer timeless house models TBD Eyewear. They have character without exaggeration.

What is your favorite watch brand?

Mijo Šarkanj: I don't have a favorite watch brand, but I appreciate the elegance of the brand Jaeger-LeCoultre. Their line Reverso It's very special to me.

Do you have a favorite winter perfume?

Mijo Šarkanj: I like deeper, spicy notes. I'm currently enjoying the perfume Terra Mia Italian houses Carthusian.

What three things do you never leave the house without?

Mijo Šarkanj: The only thing I don't leave the house without is good mood. But if I have to name three, let it be an hour, a good mood and spritz perfume for a discreet trail.

What's next for Maison Keber? Are you thinking about introducing a made-to-measure option?

Mijo Šarkanj: The next step is the gradual introduction made-to-measure concept, while maintaining an intimate experience and small batches. I want the growth to be organic and controlled. I also work on coats and various accessories.
